Just 14 km east, out of the hustle and bustle of Brisbane City life you'll reach Moreten Bay a humble location that holds many of the best islands in the world. You may have heard of Moreton Island and North Stradbroke Island. These are the largest islands in Moreton Bay.
If you ever get the chance to travel to Stradbroke Island also known as "Straddie", make sure you do. There is easy access from the non-stop ferries that leave Cleveland everyday. Straddie has a population of 2500 with 3 main town ships, Dunwich, Amity Point and Point Lookout. It is the 2nd largest sand island next to Fraser Island and is a common camping spot for many Australians. There are so many things to see and do on Stradbroke Island from, whale watching to having a swing of golf!
Like Straddie, Moreton Island is another great location for a holiday, also another massive sand island. If camping is not your thing Tangalooma on Moreton Island is a great holiday destination. Only an 1hr ferry ride from Brisbane you'll reach clear calm waters waiting to be explored. Complete with its own resort, at Tangalooma you can enjoy long strolls along the beach, dolphin feeding, diving through the wrecks or heading out towards the dunes for sand tobogganing and quad bike trails.
